The Houston Energy ran over the Austin Outlaws 34-6 at Wolverine Stadium on Saturday, May 4th. Led by a dominant defensive display that forced 4 turnovers, the Energy coasted to their first victory of the season. Ariele Adams starred for the defense recording an interception and fumble recovery.
The ground game shined in the first half with the Energy rushing for 4 touchdowns. Suzie Garrett bulldozed her way to 3 while veteran Brook Wilson added the other. Their efforts and stiff defense gave the Energy a comfortable 28-0 halftime lead.
Coming out of the half, Austin put together a scoring drive that cut the lead to 28-6. Houston’s special teams would block the extra-point attempt.
The following drive, Houston would answer right back with a 30-yard touchdown pass from Carol Maresh to Amirra “Rocket” Parker. They would ride that 34-6 lead to the final buzzer.
The Energy defense played downhill and gritty, flying to the ball all night. Shamonee Williams and Ashley Crawford would add a fumble recovery and interception respectively to Adams’ two turnovers.
Houston looks to stack wins as they travel to Lafayette, Louisiana to take on the Zydeco Spice next week on Saturday, May 11.
