The Houston Energy (1-0) defeated the Dallas Elite Mustangs (0-2) 47-6 in their 2025 season opener on Saturday, May 3rd at Richland High School. Amirra “Rocket” Parker dominated the game with a 4 touchdown performance.
Carol Maresh started the scoring with a 5-yard touchdown run in the first quarter to put the Energy up 7-0. An interception with 47 yard return by Lajayshia Dotson set up Dominique McDougle for a 1-yard touchdown run. Houston would finish the first quarter up 13-0.
Parker would start her scoring barrage in the second quarter with a 5-yard touchdown run, and a 16 yard touchdown reception from Maresh. She would also add a 2 point conversion in the quarter as the Energy would extend their lead to 27-0 before the half.
Houston would pick up where they left off in the second half with Maresh finding Rocket for a 15 yard touchdown. Energy newcomer Destinee Hernandez would take some snaps under center against her former team in the 4th quarter where she would find Parker for an 8-yard touchdown. Ash Robinson would put the final points on the board for the Energy with a 6 yard TD run before Dallas would score on the last play of the game.
The defense and special teams set the Energy offense up with great field position all night. Only once did Houston start a possession in their own territory. The defense recorded 4 sacks and 5 tackles for loss. Brandy Ivy would record an interception and Shannon Foreman would recover a fumble.
Maresh would lead the offense with 118 total yards, Rocket would lead all receivers with 72 receiving yards, and McDougle finished as the leading rusher 41 yards.
The Energy will take on the Austin Outlaws (0-1) in their home opener next Saturday, May 10th at Dement Field in Galena Park, TX as they look to make a 2-0 start on the season.
